Editing Framing Properties

You can use this function to edit the framing tool of a FRAMING type layer in a floor or ceiling. The framing tool defines the framing properties. You can add framing according to the framing tool by using the Generate Parts function.

1. Select Floor Joists, Roof Rafters > Define Framing.
2. Select the method of selecting the structural layer, and select the structure and the structural layer (type FRAMING).

3. Select Confirm.
4. Select the framing tool and its parameters in the dialog box.

5. Do either of the following:
   • Update the changes in the framing by selecting Update in a message box.
   • Select Ignore in a message box and make other changes to the framing, e.g. add a joist line or edit the origin points. You can refresh all the changes in the framing at once by selecting the Adding And Refreshing Framing function.
6. If the selected joist (piece Joist in the Framing Properties dialog box) is higher or lower than the thickness of the horizontal structure or existing framing, you can select in a message box whether the top or bottom surface of the structure is to be kept at the original height.
   • Keep Top
   • Keep Bottom
7. If you are updating the framing, do either of the following:
   • Choose to delete the existing framing by selecting Delete in a message box.
   • Choose to keep the existing framing by selecting Continue in a message box. You can keep the existing framing when the framing has been added only on a certain section of the horizontal structure, for example.

• You can also edit the framing pieces in the following way:
  1. Select the pieces in the basic mode of the program.
  2. Right-click to open the context-sensitive menu.
  3. Select Properties. The Piece Properties dialog box opens. For example, you can select Box + Centerline from the 2D Instance list, whereat you can use the joist center lines to dimension the framing.
