Copy an Existing Material and Edit its Shading Properties
You can create a new material in the Shared folder of the
library by copying an old material and editing its properties.
- Select System Settings > General System
Setup > Rendering Materials. The browser is opened.
- Open the browser folder from which you want to copy the old
material.
- Right-click the thumbnail of a material, and select
Copy.
- Open the folder to which you will paste the material, for
example Shared/Materials. Or, if necessary, create a new folder.
- Select the Materials folder, or any folder under it.
- Right-click to open the function menu.
- Select Create new folder.
- Enter a name for the new folder.
- Select the folder you have just created.
- Right-click to open the actions menu, and select
Paste.
- Name the new material. You can also use the same name as in the
System folder. If there is a material with the same name both in
the Shared and System folder, the material in the Shared folder
will replace the material in the System folder. Once you have named
the material, an image of the material and its name are displayed
in the browser.
- Right-click the thumbnail you named and select
Edit.
- Edit the shading properties of the material in a dialog box.
Edit Material Dialog Box
- Confirm by clicking OK.
Note
- System Settings is only available on the toolbar if you
are a system administrator.
