Determining the North Direction

In determining the compass directions of windows and doors, north is located in the top part of the window and south in the bottom part of the window by default. You can define directions that differ from the default by determining the north direction as follows:

  1. Activate the floor plan drawing.
  2. Move the cursor to the Energy calculation header in the document browser.
  3. Right-click to open the contextual menu.
  4. Select Define North Direction.

An arrow in the cursor will indicate the current north direction. If you have not previously defined the north direction, the arrow points in the direction of the positive y-axis.

  5. Rotate the north arrow using the buttons on the contextual toolbar or key commands.

    Rotating Clockwise And Counter-clockwise

The compass direction is displayed in the middle of the status bar.

  6. Select Confirm.

The north direction data are set in the project PARAMETERS file using the parameter NORTH_ANGLE. The angle value is calculated in the clockwise direction starting from the positive y-axis.
