Exporting a New Project to the DesignStream System
You can only transfer projects to the DesignStream system if
they already have a label in the DesignStream system. Once you have
designed a project, export it to the DesignStream system as
follows:
- Save the project in either of the following ways:
- Select File > Save from the menu bar.
- Press Ctrl+S.
- Select File > Close Project from the menu bar. The
Close Project dialog box opens.
- Select the radiobutton Check-In to DesignStream. The
Check-In to DesignStream dialog box opens.
- Select the check-in method of the project and the publishing
method of the documents in the dialog box.
- Select Create a new version as the check-in mode.
- Type a description in the Check-In comment field.
Check-In to
DesignStream Dialog Box
- Confirm by clicking OK.
- Click the Close button.
- If you selected the interactive publishing of documents (WWW
Publishing add-on feature), you can select which documents of the
project you want to publish in the DesignStream system.
Publisher
Click Publish to close the dialog
box.
Note
- The project is compressed into a ZIP file and exported to the
DesignStream system. The project will be removed from the local
project archive. If the project export is not successful for some
reason (for example the network connection is down), the project
will not be removed from the local archive.
- The information on the project data card is saved in the
DesignStream system as the meta data of the product or project. In
addition, a description text saved in the project folder can be
saved in the DesignStream system. Transferring information from one
system to another has been defined with keywords in the PDM keyword
group.
- Saving project data card information as the meta data in the
DesignStream system:
field_alias_proj= "VERTEXBD_FIELDNAME1"
"DS_FIELDNAME1"
For example: field_alias_proj= "NUM_BEDROOMS"
"BEDROOM"
- Saving a text file as the meta data in the DesignStream system:
field_alias_proj= "FILE.NameOfFile"
"DS_FIELDNAME1"
NameOfFile is the text file in the project
folder. For example: field_alias_proj= "FILE.proj_descr"
"DESCR".
- When you want to modify the project, check out the project from the DesignStream system
to your own workspace.
- When implementing the DesignStream system, the existing
projects can be batch-transferred to the system, see Batch Transfer of Projects to the
DesignStream System.
