Import an IFC Model As Reference Geometry

You can import an IFC model into Vertex as reference geometry. This requires the IFC link add-on feature.

Do either of the following:

• Select File > Open > Open File. Select IFC files (*.ifc) as the file type.
• Open the IFC model in Vertex using the drag and drop method.

If you would like to add the geometry contained by the IFC model to the building model, first save the model to the model archive. Saving requires the Advanced 3D Modeling add-on feature of the software.

1. Save the model by selecting File > Save.
2. Select the saving folder and enter a name for the file.

   You will be prompted: "Add to model archive?"

3. Select Yes, and define the archive data, based on which you can later find and open the model.
4. Add the archived model to the building model.
