Framer, Floor Framing & Rafters

Adding a Joist from the Profile Library Using Two Points

The program will add a joist selected from the profile library whose length and direction are determined by the start and end point selected. When you select a joist from the profile library, you will add it as described in the section describing profile functions - see Adding a Beam. However, the parameters of a beam added as a joist are different from one added as a profile. You do not type a vertical position for a joist, but its position is tied to the top or bottom surface of the framing.

  1. Select Floor Joists, Roof Rafters > Insert > Add Profile from Library.
  2. Select the area.
  3. Select the profile properties by using the functions on the contextual toolbar:

The cross section you selected will be set as the default until you select another cross section.

  4. Select the reference point for the cross section.
  5. Select the parameters by using the Parameters function.
  6. Select the start point of the joist.
  7. Select the end point of the joist.
