Locate by Surface

You can use this function to turn a macro you are adding parallel to a selected surface. You can use this function when you are adding roof accessories, such as ladders, for example. Select the function from the contextual toolbar.

The macro may have been modeled in either the xy, yz or xz plane. You can select which coordinates plane of the macro is to be set parallel to the surface. Select the coordinate system cursor in use by pressing the K key. This way you can easily determine which plane you want to turn.

Once you have set the macro parallel to the surface, you can rotate the macro on the surface plane by using the function Rotate Around the Normal of the Selected Surface before selecting the location of the macro.

  1. Select the surface.
  2. Select the coordinates plane of the macro to be set parallel to the surface.
  3. Select the location of the macro.
