General Drawing and Modeling Properties - Cursor

Defines the general drawing and modeling properties such as the cursor type, resolution, dimension precision, automatic point snapping and zooming. You can define the properties in a dialog box with multiple tabs.

Tab: Cursor

Resolution

You can define the resolution of the cursor in the working window. Select an appropriate value from the list. You can also use the menu bar function Settings > Cursor Resolution to select the resolution.

Dimensioning precision

Sets the dimension precision in the working window. Select an appropriate value from the list.

Search area % of cursor size

Sets the cursor snap area in relation to the cursor's size. The snap area will be positioned around the cursor. The value 50% indicates that there is a snap area around the cursor of half the cursor size.

Direction locking

Locks the cursor to move only horizontally, vertically or in the 45 degrees direction.

Mark entities before selecting

Sets highlighting objects before selection. When this function is enabled (default), a line element in the cursor-snap area, for example, is highlighted in color. If highlighting is not used, the object will not be marked in any way.

Inverted zoom

Sets inverted zoom, when this check box is selected. This property changes the meaning of the movement of the mouse when zooming a model or a drawing. A model/drawing will be zoomed in or zoomed out, when you drag the mouse in the same direction, depending whether the check box is selected or cleared.

Type

Sets the cursor type as standard (default), crosshair or coordinate axis cursor. You can also select the cursor type by using a keyboard command.

Automatic point snapping

Sets automatic snapping to points. Select the Always option (default), if you want automatic snapping to points to be used. In addition, you can select the following check boxes:

Temporarily, you can prevent the automatic snapping to points by pressing the Alt key, for example when drawing a line.

To completely disable automatic snapping, select the radio button Off. The Only in wire frame option uses automatic snapping to points only when the model is displayed as a wire frame model.

Automatic snap to grid points will always be enabled by default, if the keyword set.gridsnap.on= 1 has been defined in the ../user/SETUP file.
