Dimensioning of Floor Plan
You can use this function to dimension automatically the
locations of exterior and interior walls, openings and posts in the
floor plan drawing of a building. The dimensions are added into one
direction (horizontal, vertical or diagonal) at a time.
- Select Dimensions >
Dimensioning of Floor Plan.
- Select the dimensions to be added and their properties in a
dialog box.
The Automatic
Dimensioning Dialog Box
- Select the objects to be dimensioned.
- Select Confirm.
- Select a direction for the dimensioning from the contextual
toolbar.
- Horizontal
- Vertical
- Angle
- Select the end of the wall you want to be the start point of
the dimension.
- Select Confirm.
- Select the location of the dimensioning line. When adding more
than one dimension lines, point the location of the dimension line
that will be closest to the building. The following is the order of
the dimension lines in relation to the building:
- Closest to the building: Columns
- Windows, doors
- Interior walls
- Exterior Walls
- Farthest from the building: Total dimension.

- You can add the dimensions as associative dimensions by
selecting the Associative dimensions check box in the
Automatic Dimensioning dialog box. See Associative Dimensions
Attached to Dimension Points
- You can also automatically dimensions the locations of interior
walls, floor joists, roof joists or roof trusses in the floor plan
drawing, see Dimensioning of Walls,
Profiles and Trusses. You can add these dimension lines to the
floor plan drawing one by one. The dimensions are associative
dimensions.
- The properties of dimension end markers of automatic
dimensioning are defined in the BDSXX keyword group with the
following keywords:
- Chain dimension ends: auto_dim_ends= END1 END2 EX1 EX2
- Baseline dimension ends: auto_base_dim_ends= END1 END2 EX1
EX2
END1 and END2 can have following values:
0 = None
1 = Arrow
2 = Circle (1 mm)
3 = Circle (2 mm)
4 = Ends on dimension figure
5 = Slash
EX1 and EX2 can have following values:
0 = None
1 = Short symmetrical (3.5 mm)
2 = Short (10 mm)
3 = Close to dimension point (3 mm open)
4 = To dimension point
