Opening a View from a Sheet

You can open a view on a drawing sheet derived from the model of a building (elevation drawing, section drawing or perspective drawing) for editing in a separate 2D window. You can edit the opened view drawing with the general drawing functions.

The view is opened in a drafting mode. In this mode, you cannot edit the existing geometry of the view but you can add dimensions and lines, for example. You can later update changes made in the 3D model to the view drawing while still keeping the added elements. You can switch the drafting mode to editing mode where you can make any changes in the view, for example delete lines. The changes will be lost next time you update the changes made in the 3D model to the view drawing.

1. Do one of the following:
   • Select the function from the toolbar:
     1. First, open a drawing sheet. Opening and Updating a Drawing Sheet
     2. Select Drawings > Open View Drawing from Sheet.
     3. Select the view to be opened.
   • Select the function in the sheet's drawing browser:
     1. First, open a drawing sheet. Opening and Updating a Drawing Sheet
     2. Open the branch Reference Drawings in the drawing browser.
     3. Move the cursor over the view name.
     4. Right-click to open the context-sensitive menu.
     5. Select Edit.
   • Select the function in the project's document browser:
     1. Open the branch Architectural documents / Sheets.
     2. Move the cursor on a drawing sheet.
     3. Right-click to open the context-sensitive menu.
     4. Select Open View Drawing from Sheet. The drawing sheet is opened.
     5. Select the view to be opened.
2. If necessary, switch the editing mode with the function Drawings > Select View Drawing Editing Mode.
3. Edit the geometry.
4. Close the window and save the changes by selecting Yes in the message box.

Note

• The floor plan drawing is a reference drawing which cannot be opened from sheet.
• You can add height data to a view opened from an elevation drawing by using the function Adding a Height Macro.
