Shading Settings

This function can be used to define the shader properties when a model is shaded. After selecting the function, you can define the properties in the dialog box. The shader properties can be used to make the model lighter, thus making drawing faster in the working window when the model is stationary, rotated, panned, and zoomed.

  1. Select View > Shaded.
  2. Define the properties in the dialog box. The new values you have set are stored in the Windows Registry.
  3. Confirm the data.

Dialog box options

Object removal threshold in pixels

Defines the removal threshold for an object in pixels in the working window. When the model is zoomed out with the F7 key in the working window, objects smaller than the specified removal threshold are no longer drawn in the model. Removal threshold value 0 (default) means that the option is inactive.

The removal threshold is, for example, 400 pixels, and the object (A) in the picture is zoomed out twice (B) and (C). The object is zoomed out for a third time, making the object smaller than 400 pixels, and therefore the object is no longer drawn in the working window (D).

Object removal threshold for rotation in pixels

Defines the removal threshold for an object in pixels in the working window. When the model is zoomed by pressing Shift while clicking the right mouse button or rotated in the working window, objects that are zoomed smaller than the specified threshold are no longer drawn in the model. Removal threshold value 4 (default) means that an object will not be drawn in the working window, when the object's size is smaller than 4 pixels.

Outline removal threshold in pixels

Defines the outline removal threshold for the object outlines in pixels in the working window. When the model is zoomed out with the F7 key in the working window, object outlines are no longer drawn when the object is zoomed smaller than the outline removal threshold. Threshold value 0 (default) means that the option is inactive.

Outline removal threshold for rotation in pixels

Defines the outline removal threshold for the object outlines in pixels in the working window. When the model is zoomed by pressing Shift while clicking the right mouse button or rotated in the working window, outlines are no longer drawn for objects that are zoomed smaller than the specified outline removal threshold.  An outline removal threshold value 196 (default) means that outlines are not drawn for objects that are smaller than 196 pixels.

The outline removal threshold is, for example, 800 pixels, and the object (A) in the picture is zoomed out by pressing Shift and clicking the right mouse button. Once the object's size is smaller than 800 pixels (B), the outlines are no longer drawn.

Marked volume transparency 0-100%

Defines the percentual transparency of an object selected in the working window. The default value is 50%. Transparency is not used with a value of 0 %. Compare the transparency of an object with transparency values 50% (A) and 70% (B).

Edges visible

When this function is selected, the edges of a part will be visible when the model is stationary in the working window. If the function is not selected, edges will not be drawn when the model is stationary. Compare the drawing of a part: edges drawn (A), and edges not drawn (B).

Edges visible when moving

When this function is selected, the edges of a part will be drawn when the model is rotated, panned or zoomed. If the Edges visible function is not selected, the edges are drawn only when the model is rotated, panned or zoomed, and hidden when you refresh the model. If the function is not selected, the edges will not be visible when rotating, panning or zooming the model.

Use faster rendering method

This will make the shading of the model faster, for example when the model is rotated. If there are problems in handling the model, deselect this function and restart the program.
