Position a Model on a Background Photo
You can position a model in a background photo which is of the
type backfoto. Add the background photo to the model before
positioning the model in the photo. Position the model using the
Fly function. Because the background photo is also visible
in the OpenGL shading mode, you can position the model using this
mode.
The points determining the position cannot be clicked in a
perspective projection. Make sure, that Projection >
Perspective View is not selected before you position the model
with the Fly function.
- Select Rendering > Set
Background.
- Open the System/Backgrounds/Misc/Background Photos
folder in the browser.
- Double-click the thumbnail.
- Select Projection > Fly from the menu bar.
- Position the model in the background photo by clicking a total
of three pairs of points. Click the first (1st) pair of points:
- First, click Point 1 from the model.
- Click the position of Point 1 in the background photo.
- Click the second (2nd) pair of points.
- Click the third (3rd) pair of points. The model is positioned
in the photo.
- Move the background photo relative to the model one pixel at a
time as follows:
- Press the B key.
- Press the cursor keys Up, Down, Left or Right.
- Finally, accept the position of the model on the background
photo by pressing the Esc key.
Note
- You can position the model, for example by first clicking the
model's origin and then clicking a place for it in the background
photo, followed by clicking two pairs of points determining the two
axes (X and Y) from the model and the background photo.
- If the background photo is not visible in the model window and
you have selected Draft > Shading as the drawing mode,
the background photo is not of the backfoto type.
