Designing a Log House

Add-on options for drafting and designing log houses can be added to the Vertex Building Design software.

The Log House Drafting is an add-on feature which can be attached to the Vertex BD Drafter product. A complete collection of log wall functions is included in the Log House Design add-on feature, which can be attached to the Vertex BD Architectural and Pro products. When either of these add-on options is included in your software, you can select the Log Wall functions from the Log Walls menu on the toolbar.

You can add a log wall with the Insert Wall function, which you can select from the toolbar or from the context-sensitive menu.

The Log House Design add-on feature can still be enhanced with the Log House Work Drawings add-on feature.

• When a log house is being designed, walls are added to the drawing-model pair of the first floor in full height. When the second floor is being designed, the walls are reflected to the drawing-model pair of the second floor where the windows, doors and other components are added. This way the components are placed at the correct height. When you change the type of a log wall, the change will also be refreshed in the log wall's reflected geometry. This concerns only log walls.
• Working with the model is faster, when you select the wall height so that there are not more than 2 extra logs above the roof.
