Stepdown Hip End

You can use this function to create trusses at the ends of a hip roof so that stepdown trusses are added to the end. Triangular trusses are added to the edge. If trusses have already been added to the end, the program will remove the existing trusses from the area. After selecting the eave at the end, you can select the truss parameters in a dialog box.

Number of hip trusses / Ridge to hip girder dimension

You can define the number of stepdown trusses at the hip end in two ways:

• Number of hip trusses - Select the quantity from the list, or type the desired value in the text field. The positioning of the trusses is started from the ridge of the main roof according to the parameter Hip truss spacing (d1).

  When you select this method, the positioning of the jack trusses is started from the roof corner points (P).

• Ridge to hip girder dimension - Define the distance (D) of the hip truss at the edge from the ridge. Select the distance from the list or type the desired value in the text field. The positioning of the trusses is started from the ridge of the main roof according to the parameter Hip truss spacing (d1). As many trusses is added as fits in the distance D.

  When you select this method, the positioning of the jack trusses is started from the points (P) marked in the figure below.

Type the spacing of the trusses added to the hip end in the text field.

Girder plies

You can add the hip truss closest to the eave as duplicated by selecting 2 from the list.

Jack truss spacing

Type the spacing of the trusses added to the edge of the hip end in the text field. The starting point (P) of the spacing depends on the selected adding method of the hip trusses:
