Add a Dormer

Select the dormer properties in the dialog box.

Add a Wall

Select the check box when you want to add walls to a dormer. Select the wall type by clicking the Select button. Select the wall type and structure from an auxiliary menu.

Front wall, Side wall

Select either of the following as the locating height of the bottom end of the front wall and side walls:

• Start from floor height - The wall starts from the top floor surface. The height of the top floor surface is displayed in the Floor height field. The height of the top floor surface of the active drawing-model pair is the default height. You can change this value if necessary.

• Add between main roof and dormer roof - The wall starts from the level of the top surface of the main roof. The bottom edge of the wall becomes slanted based on the pitch of the roof.

Add a Window

Select this check box when you want to add a window to the front wall of the dormer. Select the window by clicking the Select button. Select the window in the dialog box.

Select a Window in the Browser

The program will insert the window in the middle of the front wall.

Header height from floor

Type the height of the top edge of the window in relation to the floor surface. Type the height of the floor surface in the Floor height field.

Front overhang, Side overhang

Type the overhang values of the dormer in the text field. The overhang is the distance of the eave from the exterior side of the wall frame.

Floor height

The height of the top floor surface. The height of the top floor surface of the active drawing-model pair is the default height. You can change this value if necessary. The height is used to determine the following heights:

• The locating height of the bottom edges of walls, if the Start from floor height radio button is selected.

• The height of the top edge of a window, if you are adding a window to the front wall of the dormer. Type the height of the top edge relative to the floor surface in the Header height from floor field.

Create hole in main roof

When this check box is selected, the program will create a hole in the main roof. The border lines of the hole are determined by the inner surfaces of the walls.

If you remove the dormer or the walls of a dormer, the hole will remain in the main roof. You can remove the hole by removing the edge points of the hole with the Delete an Edge Point function.
