Opening a File

You can open a file from any folder in your system. The file to be opened can be a Vertex 2D drawing or 3D model, DWG file or DXF file. The file can also be a Vertex Red Pen containing markings.

When you are opening a file, you can select one of the following as the file type:

All Files (.)
Vertex 2D Drawings (*.vxp)
Vertex 3D Models (*.vxm)
Vertex 2D Drawings (old type) (p_*)	- Old Vertex file type.
Vertex 3D Models (old type) (m_*)	- Old Vertex file type.
Red Pen Files (*.vxr)
AutoCad Drawings (*.dwg)
DXF Files (*.dxf)
Transfer Files (*.vxz)	- Compressed Vertex BD Project.

Open the file into a new window as follows:

Do one of the following:
- Select the File> Open File function from the menu bar.
- Select the Open File function on the toolbar.
Select the directory from the Look in drop-down list.
Select the file type from the Files of type drop-down list.
Select a file in the directory.
Click the Open button.

Note

The default Viewer directory is picts. You can select another directory with the common Windows dialog box functions, or from the Directory drop-down list. Click the Go button to activate the selected directory.
Use the function File > Open Drawing-Model Pair to open drawing and model files of the active project.
