Distant Light Fixed in the Viewing Direction

The distant light fixed in the viewing direction is intended to reduce completely black surfaces in visualization. You can create a distant light fixed in the viewing direction in the Shared folder. If you add a distant light fixed in the viewing direction, the model's surfaces will appear lighter instead of dark (black) from the viewing direction.

In the example figure on the left, a distant light with an incoming direction from the front of the building and intensity of 0.8 is on in the model. On the right, a distant light fixed in the viewing direction with an intensity of 0.4 is also on.

Create a distant light fixed in the viewing direction in the Shared folder as follows:

  1. Select Rendering > Add Light. The browser opens.
  2. Open the browser's Shared folder for creating your own light.
  3. Select the Lights folder or one of its subfolders in which to save the light, or create a new folder if necessary.
  4. Open the menu by clicking with the right mouse button.
  5. Select the New Light function.
  6. Name the new light in the Create Light dialog box.
  7. Select Distant as the light type.
  8. Select the Location property, enter (0,0,0) in the field and click the Apply button.
  9. Select the To property, enter (0,0,0) in the field and click the Apply button.
  10. Confirm the data.
