Defining Circuit IDs for Electrical Devices

The circuit IDs are assigned to the electrical devices. The circuit IDs are used later on when checking circuits as well as in other wiring commands. Set a circuit ID for electrical devices as follows:

  1. Select Electrical > Set Circuit ID.

The default (or last selected) circuit is indicated in parenthesis in the prompt on the status bar.

If a circuit has not been selected earlier, and you have generated a breaker panel drawing, the drawing opens and you can select which breaker the wire should be connected to. If a breaker panel drawing does not exist, you can define the circuit ID in the New Circuit ID text box. Type a new circuit ID in the text box, or select an existing one from the drop-down list.

  2. Select the devices for the selected circuit.
  3. If you want to change the circuit, click  the CIRC ID button above the status bar.
  4. Select the devices for the selected circuit.
  5. Select Confirm.

When the components are added to a circuit, the system keeps track of the number of outlets on the circuit and closes the circuit when the maximum number of outlets per circuit has been reached.
